Cold email for web design agencies
Last updated
Galactic Outreach began as the outreach tool of a web design business, and its lead search is built for this job: finding local businesses whose website is holding them back, and saying specifically why.
How does it find businesses with a dated website?
Search an industry and a city, such as dental clinics in Austin. Each business website found is read once and scored from 0 to 100 on what a visitor would notice:
- No HTTPS: 30
- No layout for phones: 30
- A copyright year three or more years old: 20
- No social preview tags: 10
- Built on Wix, GoDaddy or Squarespace: 10
- A very heavy page: 5
The score, the signals behind it and the platform the site is built on stay with the lead, so the businesses with the most to gain from a rebuild are the easiest to find in All leads.
What can the email say?
One template, filled in for each lead: the company, the city, the website, the platform it runs on and, where the site names one, the owner. Write the observation that matters to that business, such as a site that is not secure or does not fit a phone, not the stack you build with. A dentist does not buy a framework.
When the built-in copy mentions a finding, the safety checks hold any email that claims a problem on a site where the search found none. A line about an outdated site cannot reach a business whose site is fine.
How many should an agency send?
Start at 10 to 20 a day, from a subdomain rather than your main domain, and add about 10 a week while hard bounces stay under 2% and spam complaints under 0.1%. The week-by-week table is in the docs.
Which cities can I search?
Any city in the country rules. Leads in Germany, Spain and Poland are held, because those countries require opt-in before a first email. In the UK and Ireland the address must belong to a company, and in Canada it must be one the business publishes itself.
